We met Edisson and his family last year. If you want to travel around in Albanië, there is in my option only one tour operator, family, that will show you truly more about Albanië and the local life in this beautiful country. We booked 4 tours and all 4 were great experiences. Wine tasting in 2 wineries, the waterfall tour and yesterday we had cooking class. His family gives you a warm welcome. All products they offer are home made. They take time to explain the clocking process. It is an hands on cocking class. At the end we had dinner together in the garden. J’ai participé à un cours de cuisine albanaise chez la famille d’Edison et Julia : tout était parfait ! Les produits de saison, le vin, le raki, le café turc et surtout l’ambiance, l’hospitalité et la gentillesse de toute la famille. Une expérience inoubliable qui donnera beaucoup de saveur à mon passage à Berat.
J’ai participé à ce moment en solo et je ne me suis jamais sentie autant entourée.

We were a group of 4 and attended the cooking class at Edison’s family home.   We were warmly welcomed and made to feel part of the family with raki and excellent instruction in making 3 dishes with homemade wine (very good).

We have been on a number of cooking classes around the world and this was definitely the best as it felt more local and authentic - with plenty of food at a very reasonable price.

Wij hebben vandaag de waterval canyon tour gedaan. Xhulja heeft er alles aan gedaan om er een onvergetelijke dag van te maken. De chauffeur van de auto wist alle slechte stukken van de wegen op de  route vakkundig te omzeilen zodat ook de autorit een aangename ervaring is. Kortom niks op aan te merken. This was amazing! A really nice and peaceful activity to do in Berat. You really go to an Albanian family's house, so nice to get to know this country like this, not only by visiting the touristic places. I really enjoyed the local rakia and wine. We gingen bikepacking in Albanië. Onze toer startte en eindigde in Berat. We zochten dus een transfer van Tirana naar Berat de ene week, en de omgekeerde beweging de week erop. Gezien onze fietsen mee moesten, was een minivan een must.

Ik plaatste een bericht in een Facebookgroep (Albanië travel tips) en kreeg vrijwel meteen een reactie én privébericht van Qato Tours.
Ik ontving foto's van zijn minibus, zodat ik zeker wist dat de fietsen zouden passen.

De communicatie verliep zeer vlot. Ik kreeg ook een eerlijke prijs, die in vergelijking met anderen, de goedkoopste was.

Edison was steeds bereikbaar. Hij kwam ook steeds op tijd op de afgesproken tijdstippen. Het feit dat de laatste rij zetels verwijderd moesten worden voor de transfer, was voor Edison geen moeite! Hij had ook zijn voorzorgen genomen en extra bevestigingsmateriaal voorzien om zeker te zijn dat onze fietsen niet beschadigd zouden raken tijdens het transport. Daarenboven stelde hij zelf voor om onze rugzakken een hele week bij hem te stockeren. Gedurende onze week fietsen kruisten we per toeval Edison. Hij was oprecht blij van ons te zien, stopte en we maakten even een praatje.

Edison wist ons tijdens de transfer te vertellen dat hij mijn post op Facebook gelezen had en ons probleem verstond. Hij zei dat hij ons daarom wilde helpen, waarop hij mij contacteerde.
Zijn moto is: "Behandel je klanten zoals je zelf wil behandeld worden". Eerlijke prijsstelling, open communicatie en een schitterende service!

We kregen gedurende de rit veel uitleg over Albanië en de verschillende steden/dorpen die we passeerden. Daarenboven vernamen we dat hij ook tours aanbiedt richting de Bogova waterval, Osumi Canyon, de berg Tomorr, ...

Kortom: heb je vervoer nodig in de wijde omgeving van Berat, dan kan ik je Qato Tours alleen maar sterk aanbevelen! Je zult het je niet beklagen!

Our family-style cooking experience with Edison, his wife Ola, and their wonderful family was one of the highlights of our time in Albania.

We were warmly greeted at the office in town by Edison’s wife and their 12-year-old daughter, Eggie. Even at such a young age, Eggie greeted us so professionally and made us feel immediately welcomed. After a short 10-minute drive to their home just outside of town, we met the rest of the family and were welcomed with homemade raki, made by Edison’s father, along with Turkish coffee—a special part of their family tradition.

Ola and her mother-in-law then guided us through preparing a traditional Albanian meal of meatballs, stuffed eggplant, and byrek. Everything was absolutely delicious, and it was so much fun to learn how the dishes were prepared and to experience Albanian food in such an authentic family setting.

But as wonderful as the food was, the true highlight for us was spending the evening with such a beautiful, warm, and hardworking Albanian family. Their hospitality made us feel less like tourists and more like welcomed guests in their home.

At the end of the evening, we were driven back to our hotel in Berat with full tummies and, even more importantly, full hearts. ❤️
